Anti-PAX4 antibodies are used in the immunodetection of the protein paired box 4. In humans, the canonical protein has a reported length of 350 amino acid residues and a mass of 37.8 kDa. Its subcellular localization is in the nucleus. Up to 3 different isoforms have been reported for this protein. A member of the Paired homeobox protein family, PAX4 is known to play an important role in the differentiation and development of pancreatic islet beta cells. The PAX4 gene has been associated with the disease, Type 2 diabetes mellitus. Synonyms for this target antigen include MODY9, paired box protein Pax-4, paired box gene 4, paired domain gene 4, and KPD. PAX4 gene orthologs have been reported in the mouse, rat, bovine, zebrafish and chimpanzee species. A number of PAX4 antibodies have been mentioned in research publications and have associated citations. Western Blot is a widely used application for these antibodies.
