Anti-ICE antibodies enable researchers to detect and measure the ICE antigen in biological samples. This target is a reported synonym of the CASP1 gene, which encodes caspase 1. This protein is known to function in the apoptotic pathway and the cellular response to lipopolysaccharides, among other biological roles. The human version of ICE has a canonical amino acid length of 404 residues and a protein mass of 45.2 kilodaltons, although 5 isoforms have been identified. It is reported to be localized in the cell membrane and cytoplasm of cells and widely expressed in many tissue types. This target antigen may also be known as IL1BC.
