Anti-CAV antibodies enable researchers to detect and measure the CAV antigen in biological samples. This target is a reported synonym of the CAV2 gene, which encodes caveolin 2. This protein is known to function in cell differentiation and MAPK cascade signaling pathways, among other biological roles. The human version of CAV has a canonical amino acid length of 162 residues and a protein mass of 18.3 kilodaltons. It is reported to be localized in the cell membrane, nucleus, Golgi, and cytoplasm of cells and widely expressed in many tissue types. CAV is a member of the Caveolin protein family.
