Anti-C Reactive Protein antibodies are directed against the protein encoded by the gene CRP in humans. The C Reactive Protein protein has an expected mass of 25 kDa, but there are 2 reported isoforms. The protein may also be known as PTX1, C-reactive protein, pentraxin-related, and pentraxin 1. Variants of this antigen may also be found in other species, including E. coli, fly, canine, porcine, monkey, mouse and rat.
