Anti-NBN antibodies are used in the immunodetection of the protein nibrin. In humans, the canonical protein has a reported length of 754 amino acid residues and a mass of 85 kDa. Its subcellular localization is in the nucleus. It is ubiquitously expressed across many tissue types. NBN is a known component of the MRE11-RAD50-NBN (MRN complex) which plays a critical role in the cellular response to DNA damage and the maintenance of chromosome integrity. The NBN gene has been associated with the disease, Nijmegen breakage syndrome. Synonyms for this target antigen include AT-V2, ATV, NBS, NBS1, P95, Nijmegen breakage syndrome 1 (nibrin), cell cycle regulatory protein p95, and AT-V1. NBN gene orthologs have been reported in the mouse, rat, bovine, frog, zebrafish, chimpanzee and chicken species. Over 490 citations in the literature describe the use of NBN antibodies in research. Western Blot is a widely used application for these antibodies. Immunofluorescence and Immunohistochemistry are also common applications.
