Anti-MVP antibodies are used in the immunodetection of the protein major vault protein. In humans, the canonical protein has a reported length of 893 amino acid residues and a mass of 99.3 kDa. Its subcellular localization is in the nucleus and cytoplasm. It is notably expressed in many tissues, such as the appendix and bronchus. MVP is reported to be required for normal vault structure. Post-translational modifications have been described, including phosphorylation. Synonyms for this target antigen include VAULT1, lung resistance-related protein, testicular secretory protein Li 30, and LRP. MVP gene orthologs have been reported in the mouse, rat, bovine, frog, zebrafish, chimpanzee and chicken species. Over 50 citations in the literature describe the use of MVP antibodies in research. Immunohistochemistry is a widely used application for these antibodies. Flow Cytometry, Western Blot, and Immunofluorescence are also common applications.
