Anti-IL18 antibodies are used in the immunodetection of the protein interleukin 18. In humans, the canonical protein has a reported length of 193 amino acid residues and a mass of 22.3 kDa. Its subcellular localization is in the cytoplasm and is secreted. Up to 2 different isoforms have been reported for this protein. It is notably widely expressed in many tissue types. A member of the IL-1 protein family, IL18 is known to be involved with angiogenesis and cell proliferation. Synonyms for this target antigen include IL-1g, IL1F4, IFN-gamma-inducing factor, IL-1 gamma, iboctadekin, and IGIF. IL18 gene orthologs have been reported in the mouse, rat, bovine, frog, chimpanzee and chicken species. Over 680 citations in the literature describe the use of IL18 antibodies in research. ELISA and Western Blot are common applications for these antibodies.
