Anti-HDAC3 antibodies are used in the immunodetection of the protein histone deacetylase 3. In humans, the canonical protein has a reported length of 428 amino acid residues and a mass of 48.8 kDa. Its subcellular localization is in the nucleus and cytoplasm. Up to 2 different isoforms have been reported for this protein. It is widely expressed across many tissue types. A member of the Histone deacetylase protein family, HDAC3 is reported to be a histone deacetylase that catalyzes the deacetylation of lysine residues on the N-terminal part of the core histones (H2A, H2B, H3 and H4), and some other non-histone substrates. Post-translational modifications have been described, including sumoylation. Synonyms for this target antigen include KDAC3, RPD3, RPD3-2, SMAP45, protein deacetylase HDAC3, protein deacylase HDAC3, and HD3. HDAC3 gene orthologs have been reported in the mouse, rat, bovine, frog, zebrafish, chimpanzee and chicken species.
