Anti-COII antibodies enable researchers to detect and measure the COII antigen in biological samples. This target is a reported synonym of the MT-CO2 gene, which encodes mitochondrially encoded cytochrome c oxidase II. This protein is known to function in electron transport, among other biological roles. The human version of COII has a canonical amino acid length of 227 residues and a protein mass of 25.6 kilodaltons. It is reported to be localized in the mitochondria of cells and widely expressed in many tissue types. Other names for this target antigen include MTCO2 and cytochrome c oxidase subunit II. Indicated applications for COII antibodies listed below include ELISA, Western Blot, and Immunohistochemistry.
