Anti-CERP antibodies are used in antigen-specific immunodetection in biological samples. The target CERP is a known alias name of the protein ATP binding cassette subfamily A member 1, encoded by the ABCA1 gene in humans. This 2261-amino acid residue protein is known to catalyze the translocation of specific phospholipids from the cytoplasmic to the extracellular/lumenal leaflet of membrane coupled to the hydrolysis of ATP. It is localized to the cell membrane of the cell and features glycosylated, palmitoylated and phosphorylated post-translational modifications. In terms of tissue expression, it is reported to be widely expressed, but most abundant in macrophages. Other synonyms for CERP include ABC-1 and ABC1. A number of CERP antibodies have been mentioned in research publications and have associated citations. These antibodies are most commonly used in Western Blot experiments, among other applications.
