Anti-VPS8 subunit of CORVET complex antibodies are used for the immunodetection of the protein encoded by the VPS8 gene. In humans, the canonical protein has a reported length of 1428 amino acid residues and a mass of 161.8 kDa. Its subcellular localization is in the endosome. Alternative splicing is reported to yield 3 different isoforms for this protein. A member of the VPS8 protein family, it is reported to play a role in vesicle-mediated protein trafficking of the endocytic membrane transport pathway. Other names for this target antigen include vacuolar protein sorting-associated protein 8 homolog, VPS8, CORVET complex subunit, vacuolar protein sorting 8 homolog, and KIAA0804. Gene orthologs have been identified in the mouse, rat, bovine, frog, zebrafish, chimpanzee and chicken species.
