Anti-ECRG4 augurin precursor antibodies are used for the immunodetection of the protein encoded by the ECRG4 gene. In humans, the canonical protein has a reported length of 148 amino acid residues and a mass of 17.2 kDa. Its subcellular localization is in the cell membrane, cytoplasm, and is secreted. It is reported to be expressed in the brain, with expression in the epithelial cell layer of the choroid plexus. A member of the Augurin protein family, it is a suspected hormone that may attenuate cell proliferation and induce senescence of oligodendrocyte and neural precursor cells in the central nervous system (By similarity). Other names for this target antigen include augurin and esophageal cancer related gene 4 protein. Gene orthologs have been identified in the mouse, rat, bovine, frog, zebrafish, chimpanzee and chicken species.
