Anti-LDAF1 antibodies are used in the immunodetection of the protein lipid droplet assembly factor 1. In humans, the canonical protein has a reported length of 161 amino acid residues and a mass of 17.5 kDa. Its subcellular localization is in the ER. Up to 2 different isoforms have been reported for this protein. It is notably expressed at high levels in the heart and skeletal muscle. A member of the LDAF1 protein family, LDAF1 is known to play an important role in the formation of lipid droplets (LD) which are storage organelles at the center of lipid and energy homeostasis. Synonyms for this target antigen include PROMETHIN and transmembrane protein 159. LDAF1 gene orthologs have been reported in the mouse, rat, bovine, frog, chimpanzee and chicken species.
