Anti-PIGY upstream open reading frame antibodies are used for the immunodetection of the protein encoded by the PYURF gene. In humans, the canonical protein has a reported length of 114 amino acid residues and a mass of 12.7 kDa. Its subcellular localization is in the mitochondria. A member of the PREY protein family, it is known to be involved with protein stabilization. Other names for this target antigen include NADH:ubiquinone oxidoreductase complex assembly factor Q, PIGY upstream reading frame protein, and protein preY, mitochondrial. Gene orthologs have been identified in the mouse, rat, bovine, frog and chimpanzee species.
