Anti-SEPTIN5 antibodies are used in the immunodetection of the protein septin 5. In humans, the canonical protein has a reported length of 369 amino acid residues and a mass of 42.8 kDa. Its subcellular localization is in the cytoplasm. Up to 2 different isoforms have been reported for this protein. It is notably expressed at high levels in the CNS, as well as in the heart and platelets. It is a member of the Septin GTPase protein family. Post-translational modifications have been described, including phosphorylation. Synonyms for this target antigen include CDCREL-1, CDCREL1, H5, HCDCREL-1, PNUTL1, cell division control related protein 1, peanut-like 1, and CDCREL. SEPTIN5 gene orthologs have been reported in the mouse, rat, bovine, frog, zebrafish, chimpanzee and chicken species.
