Anti-FAM3 metabolism regulating signaling molecule C antibodies are used for the immunodetection of the protein encoded by the FAM3C gene. In humans, the canonical protein has a reported length of 227 amino acid residues and a mass of 24.7 kDa. Its subcellular localization is in the cytoplasmic vesicles and is secreted. A member of the FAM3 protein family, it is suspected to be involved in retinal laminar formation. Other names for this target antigen include ILEI, protein FAM3C, family with sequence similarity 3 member C, interleukin-like EMT inducer, interleukin-like epithelial-mesenchymal transition inducer, and GS3786. Gene orthologs have been identified in the mouse, rat, bovine, frog, zebrafish, chimpanzee and chicken species.
