Anti-SS18 subunit of BAF chromatin remodeling complex antibodies are used for the immunodetection of the protein encoded by the SS18 gene. In humans, the canonical protein has a reported length of 418 amino acid residues and a mass of 45.9 kDa. Its subcellular localization is in the nucleus. Alternative splicing is reported to yield 2 different isoforms for this protein. A member of the SS18 protein family, it is suggested to function synergistically with RBM14 as a transcriptional coactivator. Other names for this target antigen include SSXT, SYT, protein SSXT, SS18, nBAF chromatin remodeling complex subunit, and SMARCL1. Gene orthologs have been identified in the mouse, rat, bovine, frog, zebrafish, chimpanzee and chicken species.
