Anti-VAC14 component of PIKFYVE complex antibodies are used for the immunodetection of the protein encoded by the VAC14 gene. In humans, the canonical protein has a reported length of 782 amino acid residues and a mass of 88 kDa. Its subcellular localization is in the endosome. Alternative splicing is reported to yield 2 different isoforms for this protein. It is ubiquitously expressed across many tissue types. A member of the VAC14 protein family, it is known to be involved with signal transduction pathways. The gene encoding this protein is implicated in Striatonigral degeneration. Other names for this target antigen include protein VAC14 homolog and Vac14, PIKFYVE complex component. Gene orthologs have been identified in the mouse, rat, bovine, frog, zebrafish, chimpanzee and chicken species.
