Anti-DEP domain containing 5, GATOR1 subcomplex subunit antibodies are used for the immunodetection of the protein encoded by the DEPDC5 gene. In humans, the canonical protein has a reported length of 1603 amino acid residues and a mass of 181.3 kDa. Its subcellular localization is in the lysosomes and cytoplasm. Alternative splicing is reported to yield 8 different isoforms for this protein. It is reported to be expressed in developing and adult brain. A member of the IML1 protein family, it is known to be involved with intracellular signal transduction and autophagy pathways. Post-translational modifications have been described, including ubiquitination. The gene encoding this protein is implicated in Epilepsy. Other names for this target antigen include FFEVF, FFEVF1, FPEVF, GATOR complex protein DEPDC5, DEP domain-containing protein 5, and DEP.5. Gene orthologs have been identified in the mouse, rat, bovine, frog, zebrafish, chimpanzee and chicken species.
