Anti-asterix antibodies enable researchers to detect and measure the asterix antigen in biological samples. This target is a reported synonym of the WDR83OS gene, which encodes WD repeat domain 83 opposite strand. This protein is a known component of the multi-pass translocon (MPT) complex that mediates insertion of multi-pass membrane proteins into the lipid bilayer of membranes. The human version of asterix has a canonical amino acid length of 106 residues and a protein mass of 12.1 kilodaltons. It is reported to be localized in the ER of cells and widely expressed in many tissue types. asterix is a member of the Asterix protein family.
