Anti-IL17 antibodies are used in antigen-specific immunodetection in biological samples. The target IL17 is a known alias name of the protein interleukin 17A, encoded by the IL17A gene in humans. This 155-amino acid residue protein is reported to be an effector cytokine of innate and adaptive immune system involved in antimicrobial host defense and maintenance of tissue integrity. The protein is secreted and features O-glycosylated and N-glycosylated post-translational modifications. In terms of tissue expression, it is reported to be expressed in memory Th17 cells. Other synonyms for IL17 include CTLA-8, CTLA8, and IL-17. Some IL17 antibodies may have been used in research and have associated citations. Western Blot is a widely used application for these antibodies. In addition, ELISA is also a common application.
