Anti-glcC antibodies enable researchers to detect and measure the glcC antigen in biological samples. This target is a reported synonym of the COL18A1 gene, which encodes collagen type XVIII alpha 1 chain. This protein is known to function in organ morphogenesis and cell adhesion, among other biological roles. The human version of glcC has a canonical amino acid length of 1754 residues and a protein mass of 178.2 kilodaltons, although 3 isoforms have been identified. It is reported to be widely expressed in many tissue types. glcC is a member of the Multiplexin collagen protein family.
