Anti-AK4 antibodies are used in the immunodetection of the protein adenylate kinase 4. In humans, the canonical protein has a reported length of 223 amino acid residues and a mass of 25.3 kDa. Its subcellular localization is in the mitochondria. It is reported to be highly expressed in the kidney, moderately expressed in the heart and liver and weakly expressed in the brain. A member of the Adenylate kinase protein family, AK4 is known to be involved in maintaining the homeostasis of cellular nucleotides by catalyzing the interconversion of nucleoside phosphates. Synonyms for this target antigen include AK3L1, AK3L2, adenylate kinase 4, mitochondrial, ATP-AMP transphosphorylase, GTP:AMP phosphotransferase AK4, mitochondrial, and AK3. AK4 gene orthologs have been reported in the mouse, rat, bovine, frog, zebrafish, chimpanzee and chicken species. A number of AK4 antibodies have been mentioned in research publications and have associated citations. Western Blot is a widely used application for these antibodies. Immunofluorescence and Immunohistochemistry are also common applications.
