Anti-POLG-BETA antibodies enable researchers to detect and measure the POLG-BETA antigen in biological samples. This target is a reported synonym of the POLG2 gene, which encodes DNA polymerase gamma 2, accessory subunit. This protein is known to function in DNA replication and in utero embryonic development, among other biological roles. The human version of POLG-BETA has a canonical amino acid length of 485 residues and a protein mass of 54.9 kilodaltons. It is reported to be localized in the mitochondria of cells and widely expressed in many tissue types. Other names for this target antigen include HP55, MTDPS16, and MTDPS16A. ELISA, Western Blot, and Immunohistochemistry are common applications for POLG-BETA antibodies.
