Anti-RTL8C antibodies are used in the immunodetection of the protein retrotransposon Gag like 8C. In humans, the canonical protein has a reported length of 113 amino acid residues and a mass of 13.2 kDa. It is a member of the FAM127 protein family. Synonyms for this target antigen include FAM127A, MAR8C, MART8C, Mart8, SIRH5, retrotransposon Gag-like protein 8C, CAAX box 1, and CXX1. RTL8C gene orthologs have been reported in the mouse and bovine species. Some RTL8C antibodies may have been used in research and have associated citations. Immunofluorescence is a widely used application for these antibodies. Western Blot and Immunohistochemistry are also common applications.
