Anti-PALB2 antibodies are used in the immunodetection of the protein partner and localizer of BRCA2. In humans, the canonical protein has a reported length of 1186 amino acid residues and a mass of 131.3 kDa. Its subcellular localization is in the nucleus. It is notably widely expressed in many tissue types. PALB2 is known to play an important role in homologous recombination repair (HRR) through its ability to recruit BRCA2 and RAD51 to DNA breaks. The PALB2 gene has been associated with the disease, Breast cancer. Synonyms for this target antigen include mutant partner and localizer of BRCA2. PALB2 gene orthologs have been reported in the mouse, rat, bovine, frog, zebrafish, chimpanzee and chicken species.
