Anti-SMPDL3A antibodies are used in the immunodetection of the protein sphingomyelin phosphodiesterase acid like 3A. In humans, the canonical protein has a reported length of 453 amino acid residues and a mass of 51.3 kDa. It has been described to be a secreted protein. Up to 2 different isoforms have been reported for this protein. It is notably expressed in blood serum. A member of the Acid sphingomyelinase protein family, SMPDL3A is known to have in vitro nucleotide phosphodiesterase activity with nucleoside triphosphates, such as ATP. Synonyms for this target antigen include ASML3a, yR36GH4.1, acid sphingomyelinase-like phosphodiesterase 3a, 0610010C24Rik, ASM-like phosphodiesterase 3a, and ASM3A. SMPDL3A gene orthologs have been reported in the mouse, rat, bovine, frog, zebrafish, chimpanzee and chicken species. Some SMPDL3A antibodies may have been used in research and have associated citations. ELISA is a widely used application for these antibodies. In addition, Immunohistochemistry is also a common application.
