Anti-galectin 9C antibodies are used in the immunodetection of the protein encoded by the LGALS9C gene. In humans, the canonical protein has a reported length of 356 amino acid residues and a mass of 39.6 kDa. It is known to bind galactosides. Other names for this target antigen include gal-9C, galectin 9 like, galectin-9-like protein B, lectin, galactoside-binding, soluble, 9 (galectin 9) pseudogene, and Galectin-9-like protein A.
