Anti-ferredoxin 2 antibodies are used for the immunodetection of the protein encoded by the FDX2 gene. In humans, the canonical protein has a reported length of 186 amino acid residues and a mass of 19.9 kDa. Its subcellular localization is in the mitochondria. Alternative splicing is reported to yield 2 different isoforms for this protein. It is found to be widely expressed, with highest levels in testis, kidney and brain. A member of the Adrenodoxin/putidaredoxin protein family, it is known to be involved with electron transport. The gene encoding this protein is implicated in Mitochondrial myopathy.
