Anti-ESR2 antibodies are used in the immunodetection of the protein estrogen receptor 2. In humans, the canonical protein has a reported length of 530 amino acid residues and a mass of 59.2 kDa. Its subcellular localization is in the nucleus. Up to 9 different isoforms have been reported for this protein. It is notably expressed in the adrenal gland. A member of the Nuclear hormone receptor protein family, ESR2 is known to be involved with cell to cell signaling and the regulation of cell growth. Post-translational modifications have been described, including phosphorylation. The ESR2 marker can be used to identify Placental Microvascular Endothelial Cells.* Synonyms for this target antigen include ESR-BETA, ESRB, ESTRB, Erb, NR3A2, ODG8, estrogen receptor beta, and ER-BETA. ESR2 gene orthologs have been reported in the mouse, rat, bovine, frog, zebrafish, chimpanzee and chicken species.
