Anti-FDFT1 antibodies are used in the immunodetection of the protein farnesyl-diphosphate farnesyltransferase 1. In humans, the canonical protein has a reported length of 417 amino acid residues and a mass of 48.1 kDa. Its subcellular localization is in the ER. Up to 5 different isoforms have been reported for this protein. It is widely expressed across many tissue types. A member of the Phytoene/squalene synthase protein family, FDFT1 is known to catalyze the condensation of 2 farnesyl pyrophosphate (FPP) moieties to form squalene. Synonyms for this target antigen include ERG9, SQS, SQSD, SS, squalene synthase, FPP:FPP farnesyltransferase, presqualene-di-diphosphate synthase, and DGPT. FDFT1 gene orthologs have been reported in the mouse, rat, bovine, frog, zebrafish, chimpanzee and chicken species. A number of FDFT1 antibodies have been mentioned in research publications and have associated citations. Western Blot is a widely used application for these antibodies. Immunofluorescence and Immunohistochemistry are also common applications.
