Anti-HSF antibodies are used in antigen-specific immunodetection in biological samples. The target HSF is a known alias name of the protein interleukin 6, encoded by the IL6 gene in humans. This 212-amino acid residue protein is known to be involved in the cellular response to lipopolysaccharides and viral immune response, among other biological processes. The protein is secreted and features O-glycosylated post-translational modifications. It is reported to be expressed in the tonsil, lymph node, and bone marrow. Other synonyms for HSF include BSF-2, BSF2, and CDF. Some HSF antibodies may have been used in research and have associated citations. ELISA and Western Blot are common applications for these antibodies.
