Anti-DAN antibodies enable researchers to detect and measure the DAN antigen in biological samples. This target is a reported synonym of the PARN gene, which encodes poly(A)-specific ribonuclease. This protein is a reported 3'-exoribonuclease that has a preference for poly(A) tails of mRNAs, thereby efficiently degrading poly(A) tails. The human version of DAN has a canonical amino acid length of 639 residues and a protein mass of 73.5 kilodaltons, although 4 isoforms have been identified. It is reported to be localized in the nucleus and cytoplasm of cells and widely expressed in many tissue types. DAN is a member of the CAF1 protein family.
