Anti-ARX antibodies are used in the immunodetection of the protein aristaless related homeobox. In humans, the canonical protein has a reported length of 562 amino acid residues and a mass of 58.2 kDa. Its subcellular localization is in the nucleus. It is reported to be highly expressed in fetal and adult brain and skeletal muscle. A member of the Paired homeobox protein family, ARX is known to be involved with axon guidance and the regulation of transcription. The ARX marker can be used to identify Pancreatic Endocrine Cells.* Synonyms for this target antigen include aristaless-related homeobox, X-linked, cancer/testis antigen 121, and homeobox protein ARX. ARX gene orthologs have been reported in the mouse, rat, bovine, frog, zebrafish, chimpanzee and chicken species.
