Anti-NPHS2 podocin antibodies are protein reagents that detect specific antigens. The NPHS2 podocin antigen is another term for the human protein NPHS2 stomatin family member, podocin, encoded by the NPHS2 gene. The protein is reported to play a role in the regulation of glomerular permeability, acting probably as a linker between the plasma membrane and the cytoskeleton. Canonically, it has an amino acid length of 383 residues and a mass of 42.2 kilodaltons. Its subcellular localization is in the ER and cell membrane and it is expressed in the kidney. The NPHS2 podocin protein is a member of the Band 7/mec-2 protein family. Other alias names for NPHS2 podocin include PDCN, SRN1, and podocin.
