Anti-NECTIN4 antibodies are used in the immunodetection of the protein nectin cell adhesion molecule 4. In humans, the canonical protein has a reported length of 510 amino acid residues and a mass of 55.5 kDa. Its subcellular localization is in the cell membrane. Up to 2 different isoforms have been reported for this protein. It is reported to be highly expressed in the placenta. A member of the Nectin protein family, NECTIN4 is suspected to be involved in cell adhesion through trans-homophilic and -heterophilic interactions, the latter including specifically interactions with NECTIN1. The NECTIN4 gene has been associated with the disease, Ectodermal dysplasia-syndactyly syndrome. Synonyms for this target antigen include poliovirus receptor-related 4, poliovirus receptor-related protein 4, and Ig superfamily receptor LNIR. NECTIN4 gene orthologs have been reported in the mouse, rat, bovine, frog, chimpanzee and chicken species. Over 90 citations in the literature describe the use of NECTIN4 antibodies in research. Western Blot is a widely used application for these antibodies. In addition, ELISA is also a common application.
