Anti-Beta MSH antibodies are protein reagents that detect specific antigens. The Beta MSH antigen is another term for the human protein proopiomelanocortin, encoded by the POMC gene. The protein is known to function in cell to cell signaling and carbohydrate metabolism and homeostasis, among other biological roles. Canonically, it has an amino acid length of 267 residues and a mass of 29.4 kilodaltons. It is a secreted protein and it is expressed in the pituitary gland. The Beta MSH protein is a member of the POMC protein family. Other alias names for Beta MSH include ACTH, ACTH, and CLIP. A number of Beta MSH antibodies have been mentioned in research publications and have associated citations. ELISA, Western Blot, and Immunohistochemistry are common applications for these antibodies.
