Anti-HARS2 antibodies are used in the immunodetection of the protein histidyl-tRNA synthetase 2, mitochondrial. In humans, the canonical protein has a reported length of 506 amino acid residues and a mass of 56.9 kDa. Its subcellular localization is in the mitochondria. Up to 2 different isoforms have been reported for this protein. It is notably widely expressed in many tissue types. A member of the Class-II aminoacyl-tRNA synthetase protein family, HARS2 is known to be involved with protein translation. The HARS2 gene has been associated with the disease, Perrault syndrome. Synonyms for this target antigen include HARSR, HO3, HisRS, PRLTS2, histidine--tRNA ligase, mitochondrial, and HARSL. HARS2 gene orthologs have been reported in the mouse, bovine and chimpanzee species. Some hars2 antibodies may have been used in research and have associated citations. Western Blot is a widely used application for these antibodies. Flow Cytometry and Immunohistochemistry are also common applications.
