Ro/SSA antigens refer to the proteins, Ro52 and Ro60, that are associated with several autoimmune diseases. Ro/SSA autoantibodies are used in the detection of lupus and Sjögren's syndrome. Encoded by the gene TRIM21, Ro52 is an intracellular protein that binds immunoglobulins for antibody-mediated degradation. RO60 is an RNA-binding protein and a subunit of a ribonucleoprotein complex that helps regulate RNA folding.
