Anti-HL antibodies are used in antigen-specific immunodetection in biological samples. The target HL is a known alias name of the protein 3-hydroxy-3-methylglutaryl-CoA lyase, encoded by the HMGCL gene in humans. This 325-amino acid residue protein is known to be involved in the metabolism of lipids, among other biological processes. It is localized to the mitochondria of the cell. In terms of tissue expression, it is reported to be highly expressed in the liver.
