Anti-TMEM138 antibodies are used in the immunodetection of the protein transmembrane protein 138. In humans, the canonical protein has a reported length of 162 amino acid residues and a mass of 19.3 kDa. Up to 3 different isoforms have been reported for this protein. It is notably expressed in many tissues, such as the bronchus and fallopian tube. A member of the TMEM138 protein family, TMEM138 is known to be required for ciliogenesis. Post-translational modifications have been described, including glycosylation. The TMEM138 gene has been associated with the disease, Joubert syndrome. Synonyms for this target antigen include HSPC196. TMEM138 gene orthologs have been reported in the mouse, rat, bovine, frog, zebrafish, chimpanzee and chicken species. These TMEM138 antibodies are widely used in Western Blot experiments, among other applications.
