Anti-D6D antibodies enable researchers to detect and measure the D6D antigen in biological samples. This target is a reported synonym of the FADS2 gene, which encodes fatty acid desaturase 2. This protein is known to function in the metabolism of lipids, among other biological roles. The human version of D6D has a canonical amino acid length of 444 residues and a protein mass of 52.3 kilodaltons, although 4 isoforms have been identified. It is reported to be localized in the ER of cells and widely expressed in many tissue types. Other names for this target antigen include DES6 and FADSD6.
