Anti-EGR3 antibodies are used in the immunodetection of the protein early growth response 3. In humans, the canonical protein has a reported length of 387 amino acid residues and a mass of 42.6 kDa. Its subcellular localization is in the nucleus. Up to 2 different isoforms have been reported for this protein. A member of the EGR C2H2-type zinc-finger protein family, EGR3 is a suspected transcription factor involved in muscle spindle development. EGR3 is also used as a cellular marker for characterizing neuronal cells. Synonyms for this target antigen include early growth response protein 3, zinc finger protein pilot, and PILOT. EGR3 gene orthologs have been reported in the mouse, rat, bovine, frog, zebrafish, chimpanzee and chicken species.
