Anti-KRT83 antibodies are used in the immunodetection of the protein keratin 83. In humans, the canonical protein has a reported length of 493 amino acid residues and a mass of 54.2 kDa. It is notably expressed in the hair. A member of the Intermediate filament protein family, KRT83 is known to be involved with pathways of aging and epidermis development. The KRT83 gene has been associated with the disease, Monilethrix. Synonyms for this target antigen include HB3, Hb-3, KRTHB3, MNLIX, keratin, type II cuticular Hb3, K83, hHb3, and EKVP5. KRT83 gene orthologs have been reported in the mouse species. Some KRT83 antibodies may have been used in research and have associated citations. Western Blot is a widely used application for these antibodies. In addition, ELISA is also a common application.
