Anti-Glucosamine (UDP-N-acetyl)-2-epimerase/N-acetylmannosamine kinase antibodies are directed against the protein encoded by the gene GNE in humans. The gene may also be known as Uae1, NM, DMRV, GLCNE, IBM2, and bifunctional UDP-N-acetylglucosamine 2-epimerase/N-acetylmannosamine kinase. Structurally, the protein is reported to be 79.3 kilodaltons in mass. Based on gene name, canine, porcine, monkey, mouse and rat orthologs may also be found.
