Anti-GAL8 antibodies are used in antigen-specific immunodetection in biological samples. The target GAL8 is a known alias name of the protein galectin 8, encoded by the LGALS8 gene in humans. This 317-amino acid residue protein is reported to be a beta-galactoside-binding lectin that acts as a sensor of membrane damage caused by infection and restricts the proliferation of infecting pathogens by targeting them for autophagy. It is localized to the cytoplasmic vesicles and cytoplasm of the cell. In terms of tissue expression, it is ubiquitously expressed across many tissue types. The term PCTA-1 is another synonym for GAL8. Indicated applications for GAL8 antibodies listed below include ELISA, Flow Cytometry, Western Blot, Immunocytochemistry, Immunofluorescence, and Immunohistochemistry.
