Anti-PCDH18 antibodies are used in the immunodetection of the protein protocadherin 18. In humans, the canonical protein has a reported length of 1135 amino acid residues and a mass of 126.1 kDa. Its subcellular localization is in the cell membrane. Up to 2 different isoforms have been reported for this protein. It is reported to be expressed in all tissues, with highest expression in the lung and ovary. PCDH18 is known to be involved with brain development and cell adhesion. Post-translational modifications have been described, including glycosylation.
The PCDH18 marker can be used to identify Gray Matter Interneurons.* Synonyms for this target antigen include PCDH68L and protocadherin 68-like protein. PCDH18 gene orthologs have been reported in the mouse, rat, bovine, frog, zebrafish, chimpanzee and chicken species. Some Pcdh18 antibodies may have been used in research and have associated citations. Western Blot is a widely used application for these antibodies. ELISA, Immunocytochemistry, Immunofluorescence, and Immunohistochemistry are also common applications.
