Anti-DG2/DG3 antibodies enable researchers to detect and measure the DG2/DG3 antigen in biological samples. This target is a reported synonym of the DSC1 gene, which encodes desmocollin 1. This protein is known to function in cell adhesion, among other biological roles. The human version of DG2/DG3 has a canonical amino acid length of 894 residues and a protein mass of 100 kilodaltons, although 2 isoforms have been identified. It is reported to be localized in the cell membrane of cells and notably expressed in the skin, ovary, heart muscle, hair, and cerebellum. Other names for this target antigen include CDHF1 and DG2/DG3.
