Anti-EDC4 antibodies are used in the immunodetection of the protein enhancer of mRNA decapping 4. In humans, the canonical protein has a reported length of 1401 amino acid residues and a mass of 151.7 kDa. Its subcellular localization is in the nucleus and cytoplasm. Up to 2 different isoforms have been reported for this protein. It is notably widely expressed in many tissue types. It is a member of the WD repeat EDC4 protein family. Synonyms for this target antigen include Ge-1, HEDL5, HEDLS, RCD-8, RCD8, enhancer of mRNA-decapping protein 4, autoantigen Ge-1, and GE1. EDC4 gene orthologs have been reported in the mouse, rat, bovine, frog, zebrafish, chimpanzee and chicken species.
