Anti-Adiponectin Receptor 2 antibodies are used in the immunodetection of the protein encoded by the ADIPOR2 gene. In humans, the canonical protein has a reported length of 386 amino acid residues and a mass of 43.9 kDa. Its subcellular localization is in the cell membrane. It is ubiquitously expressed across many tissue types. A member of the ADIPOR protein family, it is a known receptor for ADIPOQ, an essential hormone secreted by adipocytes that regulates glucose and lipid metabolism. Other names for this target antigen include progestin and adipoQ receptor family member 2, progestin and adipoQ receptor family member II, and adiponectin receptor protein 2.
